My rating: 3 of 5 stars
This was a great and light book to read.
Its not terribly long and it has it’s own mythology to go with it (that I’m convinced is derived from Greek mythology partly because the author was inspired to write it after going to Greece and then seeing olive trees in California according to the book sleeve).
I’m a big fan of books with mythology even if it’s a mythology that’s completely made up for the universe the book exists in.
I liked the main character, Eugenides. Snarky, thief, and an actor to achieve a means for the person he’s loyal to. And actually has loyalty. Has his own code of honour that he holds to and interesting enough for me to look up the rest of the series and obtain it to read.
