The King of Attolia
The King of Attolia by Megan Whalen Turner

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

As this series goes on and on I like it more and more.

We go from having no one in Attolia apart from the queen respect Eugenides at the beginning of the book to people respecting him and actually seeing him as the king by the end.

I really enjoyed the sword practice/fight near the end of the book. And Eugenides showing to the former spy for the queen that he’s actually a lot smarter than he shows to everyone.

I like the idea of a ruler coming off as potentially incompetent who didn’t marry to become a ruler but instead married for the love of the person who was ruler and to be loved back. And then coming and proving to everyone that he’s not incompetent he just doesn’t want the ruling and power that comes with it.

I don’t have much more to say about this book but I do advise reading the book.
