The Atlantis Complex
The Atlantis Complex by Eoin Colfer

My rating: 3 of 5 stars

This was interesting.

I liked that it actually properly represented what some people who suffer from OCD go through. Especially with his fear of this number and associating bad things happening with it and not being calmed until he got to that number so he’d be safe. It is a commonality with having OCD to have things like that. If something isn’t just so for an OCD person, they attribute bad things happening because of it. Or they worry that bad things will happen if they don’t do x, y, and/or z in the proper order for the proper amount of times.

I like that it’s basically outright stated that Artemis develops a mental problem BECAUSE of all the tampering with fairy magic and stuff that he does.

I DON’T like how quickly/easily he was cured though.

I also like how it was also portrayed that he was either schizophrenic or possibly had disassociate identity disorder (DID). But again, didn’t like his “speedy recovery”. I think that’s what seriously bothers me about this book is that he has a speedy recovery and all is well with no lasting effects.

Besides that however, this was a very interesting book.
