Before I start this review I need to clarify something. I see “mythology” as religion. Because it is in fact, religion. Typically it’s a religion that isn’t widely practised any more and potentially not practised at all. The term mythology also tends to be used for just about any religious practice that is not a branch of Christianity. IF YOU HAVE A PROBLEM WITH ME USING THE PHRASE RELIGION/RELIGIOUS PRACTICE IN PLACE OF MYTHOLOGY DO NOT READ ANY OF MY REVIEWS FOR THIS SERIES.

So in this book, Calliope has basically said fuck you to all the other Gods/Goddesses and started to help Cronus to escape from his prison in the underworld. Cronus is bent on the death and destruction of all the Gods/Goddesses and all of man kind.

Kate and Henry’s ceremony to crown her as queen of the underworld is interrupted because of all this.

Henry is coerced by Calliope into aiding in the escape of Cronus. Because she basically holds Kate hostage and Henry has grown quite attached to her.

Kate has to venture through the underworld to find Persephone because she is the only person who can help Kate to get Henry and the others back. Persephone also helps Kate in figuring out how to use her newly acquired powers of premonition.

Kate makes a deal with Cronus in order for her, Persephone, and James to get to Cronus safely to help him escape. Persephone guides James and Kate to Cronus’ prison because only her and Henry know where it is and how to get there.

It was exciting and kind of suspenseful in parts.
