Content warnings: classism, racism, slut shaming

Despite the content warnings, this was a fun and fluffy book that was enjoyable. I could have seriously done without the slut shaming. But the way the main character deals with her sexuality was nice.

This book almost made me forget my huge dislike of the beach (go figure, I live near an ocean and despise the beach). Until I finished it and then realised that I still do seriously hate the beach.

The racism is kind of an aside and a derivative of the classism. It’s not overt but it’s very subtle. For instance the boy who mows the lawns and weeds and basically does all the garden type work, one of the ladies regardless of the kids actual name calls them all Jose. And calls all the female workers on the island Maria. Which is a nice/nasty way of insinuating that only low class latinx people would take those jobs. And that’s the kind of racism I’m talking about. But it’s only mentioned a few times and always in conjunction with that.

Other than that, it was enjoyable and a turn your brain off and enjoy book.
