I received a free copy of this ARC from NetGalley in exchange for a fair and honest review.

This is apparently book 2 in the Reluctant Psychic series. And not having read book 1 some of this book didn’t really make sense, however most of it that was referenced in this book was explained enough that it didn’t leave me completely and utterly confused.

Despite that, this book was pretty entertaining. It didn’t hit the ground running but it also didn’t move at a snail’s pace to start it. It hit that nice middle ground between the two where there’s just enough happening to keep you interested but not so much to where you’re going “wait…what?”.

I was completely wrong in the guessing at who did the things that happened (telling those would be spoiling the book and I am not going to do that) but I wasn’t altogether that surprised.

The men in this story (with the exception of the main character’s brother) all behave in a very creepy/predatory way. They treat one of the female characters like shit and like her “no, not interested” means try harder. And that just throws my creep meter way up high because it’s a common thing to have to deal with.

All in all this was a good book that I enjoyed and would definitely recommend.
