The Courage to Try
The Courage to Try by C.A. Popovich

My rating: 3 of 5 stars

Content warnings: lesbian relationships, alcohol use, homophobic language, sexist language, sabotage, mentions of abusive relationship, mentions of abuse, mentions of death, sex, gun usage (recreational/sport shooting with clay targets), dealing with dementia

I received a free ARC in exchange for a fair and honest review from NetGalley.

I LOVE LOVE LOVE the fact that one of the main ladies was not only in a support group but talked about being in an abusive relationship and how that relationship evolved and escalated until she finally got out of it. And shows her standing up for herself when she comes face to face with her former abuser.

I didn’t like the rich asshole. Especially not when he started throwing out homophobic and sexist slurs towards the main character and outright threatening her.

Showing the relationship between daughter and father with dementia was pretty great too. It’s not a thing that is often shown.
