I received a free ARC from the author in exchange for a fair and honest review.

Wow. This book. I adored Lyrix. And the fictional reason for the San Francisco earthquake. That was a brilliant idea on the part of the author.

I also adored seeing where the angels lived and how they were birthed. It was great. And I loved Lyrix’s unusual curiosity about things and how it was not only told but shown how different she was from the other full angels.

And the showing how the angels become seraphs.

Lyrix’s punishment was horrible to hear about. Especially the fact that she gave up talking for so long.

I love Desi and Jesseye’s relationship as friends. Especially how close and protective they are of each other. ESPECIALLY Jesseye.

And I especially loved that even though the author went kind of star crossed lover with Wren and Lyrix but then didn’t. It was really nice to see her take it in a different direction than that tends to take.

We got more in depth and detail about angel society and hierarchy which was fantastic to see. And the end twist with the resurrection angel.

I especially liked that the angels weren’t all as good. They were shown to be just as flawed as humans are. They weren’t perfect. And like humans they were prone to having their own motivations as well.

All in all this was a fantastic book. It shows flawed people (and angels) coming together and finding each other and helping each other.
